650th Janam Jayanti Commemoration

Celebrating 650 years of Sant Ravidas Ji — the saint who first envisioned a city without sorrow, without fear, without tax on labour. Where every voice is equal and the Name of the Lord resounds.
“Begampura, the city to which I bow — without worry, without fear, without tax. There, the Name of the Lord resounds.”
Born into a leather-worker's family on the banks of the Ganges, Sant Ravidas Ji rose to become one of history's most radiant saints — the first to articulate a casteless society and the equal dignity of all labour.
Wisdom That Transcends Time
Six pillars of the Begampura vision — teachings so powerful that centuries later they form the bedrock of modern democratic constitutions.
“Begampura Sahar Ko Nau”
The first shabad in the Guru Granth Sahib to envision a society without caste, without tax on labour, without sorrow. 'Begampura, the city to which I bow — without worry, without fear, without tax. There is neither anxiety nor trouble. There, the Name of the Lord resounds.'
“Asan Andhe Ko Chanan Disant”
Ravidas himself tanned hides — yet his hands were so revered that kings bowed before him. He insisted that honest labour, not birth, defines worth. Kabir says 'caste', Ravidas says 'kar' (work).
“Baman Khalsa Jaat Na Koyee”
Bhagat Ravidas rejected the varna order outright — 'The Lord made all from one clay; how then is one better, another worse?' He was the first to give a public discourse from a temple (famous legend at Varanasi's Vishwanath Gali).
Five hundred years before modern constitutions, one saint wrote the world's first charter of a truly egalitarian society.
“Begampura Sahar Ko Nau”
